Do I need an account?
No. Your first scan and the free tools work with no sign-up. Sign in with Apple only if you want to sync deals across devices.
I’m already at the dealership — is there time?
About 60 seconds. Open DealShield, tap Scan Contract, point your camera at the first page. By the time the finance manager comes back, Dex has read it.
What can the scanner read?
Printed dealer contracts, F&I worksheets, the “four-square,” finance disclosures, and add-on menus. Works in normal showroom lighting.
The scan looks off — what now?
Retake the shot with the page flat and well-lit. You can also add multiple pages, and edit any extracted line item by hand before saving.
Where do the comp prices come from?
Live dealer listings near your zip, pulled at the moment you check — each linked to a Carfax report you can verify. Not a static database; expired listings don’t show up.
How is the Deal Score calculated?
Your price, APR, term, fees, and add-ons are scored 0–100 against market norms, with a labeled breakdown of every deduction and a target price to aim for.
What does Live Coach actually hear?
The mic only while a session is active. Speech is transcribed on-device by Apple’s recognizer and matched against a tactic detector locally. Audio is never written to disk or sent to our servers.
Is it legal to record my salesperson?
Depends on your state. One-party-consent states (most of the US) let you record a conversation you’re in. All-party states (CA, FL, IL, MD, MA, MT, NH, PA, WA + a few) require everyone’s consent. DealShield prompts you before each session; compliance is your responsibility.

How do I cancel or restore?
Manage in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. On a new device, tap Restore Purchases on the paywall. Refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I delete my data?
Delete any deal in the app, or use Settings → Delete Account to remove everything synced. Most data is local, so uninstalling also clears it.
Does my deal data go to dealers?
Never. We don’t sell or share your data — especially not to dealerships, lenders, or auto-industry brokers. See our Privacy Policy.
